Programs, Accomplishments and History

Accomplishments

Since its inception, AARWBA has had many accomplishments including

Establishment of driver interviews at Indianapolis Motor Speedway
Ensured installation of television monitors in media centers at Ontario, Riverside and Indianapolis
Created a track report card that led to improvements in working conditions for news media.
Got first recognition for women to enter a NASCAR and a USAC Garage area (President Dusty Brandel, at Ontario)
Created the first racing Hall of Fame
Created the first and only racing All-America Team
Disseminated a "White Paper" setting out guidelines for journalists, photographers and tracks with respect to racing coverage.
Has been instrumental in resolving credential difficulties for journalists.
Donated money to the American Red Cross for Hurricane Katrina relief efforts.
Created an Ombudsman program to assist journalist members in resolving problems with track and sanction officials.
